Donation Process

Egg donation requires a time commitment, dedication to the process, reliability and honesty. But most of all, it requires the desire to help the future parents realize their dream of building a family.

To help you decide if becoming an egg donor is right for you, please review the typical process.

Donor Application

First, submit your application to see if you meet the requirements. A member of our team will contact you to answer questions and help you complete your online profile. We will ask for as much detail as possible and 8-15 photos of you from different ages throughout your life. This will show potential parents what you looked like from childhood to present.

Get Matched with Future Parents

Once your online profile is available, potential parents can view your profile on our secure database. We will also recommend you to our intended parents who are seeking a donor. While reviewing your profile, they may look for such details as likeness, ethnicity, and education. Our team will contact you when potential parents are interested in working with you.

Screening

When you agree to a match with future parents, our team and the fertility clinic will work together to schedule your medical appointments. During the appointment, the Egg Donor Nurse will go through the entire egg donation process with you. In addition, you will have a physical exam, genetic testing, STD testing, drug/nicotine screening, and other blood tests. Additional screening requirements include a background check and psychological screening. Screening results are typically available within 3-6 weeks.

Legal

The legal part of the process involves a contract that starts with the recipients and their attorney, then moves to you and your attorney. The entire process takes about 1-3 weeks and is paid for by the future parents.

Medications and Monitoring

You will be provided a calendar for medications, monitoring, and arrangements for any travel that is necessary. You will need to administer daily injections with small needles into your thigh or abdomen to stimulate egg development. You will be closely monitored by the fertility clinic or a local clinic that will administer blood work and vaginal ultrasounds to ensure you are responding well to the medications.

Retrieval

The retrieval is an out-patient procedure that is minimally invasive. You will be given a mild sedative and the procedure will take less than an hour. Most donors tell us afterwards that they don’t remember the procedure. After  30-45 minutes in the recovery room, you will be able to leave with your travel companion. A follow-up session will be scheduled, if necessary. Within 10 days of retrieval, your compensation check will be mailed to you.
